Set in the early 1900s during the height of the colonization of Africa, The German King tells the tale of one African prince who dared to fight back.


The German King tells the story of Rudolf Douala Manga Bell -- an African prince of a colonized country -who was raised in Germany alongside the soon-to-be Kaiser of Germany, Prince Wilhelm II. After the death of his father makes him king, an estranged Rudolf returns to his homeland, only to find oppression, grief, and death. Confronted with injustice and compelled to act, Rudolf leads a rebellion against Kaiser Wilhelm II -- a man Rudolf once counted as a brother.

BASED ON A TRUE STORY

The German King is a pan-African historical drama that chronicles the remarkable true story of Rudolf Douala Manga Bell, a courageous Cameroonian king who, alongside other African heroes, led the charge against oppressive German colonial rule Set during The Scramble For Africa leading up to the First World War. Rudolf Douala Manga Bell - a German-raised, African prince becomes king after his father's death. Estranged from his homeland, Rudolf returns to Cameroon only to find oppression, grief, and death. Confronted with injustice and compelled to act, Rudolf leads a rebellion against the Kaiser of Germany - K,aiser Wilhelm Il, a man Rudolf once counted as a brother.
This is a moving series about one of Africa's greatest forgotten heroes. Our vision is to tell Rudolf's story in such a way as to reclaim and immortalize a royal heritage of bravery, nobility, and love.

Adetokumboh "Ade" M'Cormack, an award-winning actor and filmmaker from Sierra Leone, showcases his talent across continents. With notable roles in films like "Blood Diamond" and "Captain America: Winter Soldier," and acclaimed voice work in Netflix's "Castlevania,", he's a versatile talent. Beyond acting, M'Cormack dives into storytelling, with his short films "Irish Goodbye" and "The German King" garnering festival acclaim. He's also penned the graphic novel "Orishas: Legacy of Shango,", slated for 2023 release.

Glenton Richards, a Writers Guild-nominated writer based in LA, has contributed to acclaimed TV series like "Fargo" and "American Crime," working alongside Oscar-winning screenwriter John Ridley. He holds a B.S. in Radio, Television, & Film from Texas Christian University. Recently, he wrote for Amazon Prime's "The Expanse" and its spin-off, "The Expanse: One Ship," earning a Writers Guild nomination.

Filmmaker Chris W. Freeman, mentored by renowned directors like Wolfgang Petersen and Tim Burton, has crafted five features, produced numerous others, and collaborated closely with top industry executives from major studios. His graphic novel, "So...I Survived the Zombie Apocalypse and All I Got Was This Lousy Podcast," garnered praise from Dark Horse Comics. His latest film earned acclaim, including Best Horror Feature at the Toronto Independent Film Festival. Currently, he's adapting "The End of Temperance Dare" for film and developing multiple projects with Impossible Dream Entertainment.

Stephanie Filo, ACE, is a three-time Emmy and Peabody Award-winning TV/Film Editor and activist with over 15 years of experience editing and producing both scripted and unscripted content. She is based in Los Angeles and Sierra Leone, West Africa. In 2021, she won a Primetime Emmy award for her work on HBO's A Black Lady Sketch Show, making her team the first all-Women of Color editing team to take home the award for Outstanding Picture Editing for Variety Programming.
